IPL or the Indian Premier League is the world’s most popular cricket tournament watched by cricket fans all over the world. This league is played by ten teams. These are Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and newly joined teams Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants. Though it is a very popular game very few people know the rules and regulations a team must maintain.
In this article, we are going to give you a brief introduction to how many players a team can retain in IPL in a particular season. There is also a budget cap fixed by the authority before the bidding process starts.
Before the option, a team could keep a maximum of 4 players. They can select a maximum of 3 Indian players or a maximum of 3 international players. Indians who are kept can be kept, uncapped, or a combination of both.
The BCCI released a list of 27 players who have been retained by the Indian premier league’s eight franchises ahead of the impending mega auction for the 2022 season. The Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians have each decided to keep four players, respectively. The Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad each kept 3 players, while the Punjab Kings kept 2 only. As a result, Punjab has the largest salary budget of Rs. 82 crore. The Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans are new teams in the IPL 2022 season. Therefore, there are no retained players in these teams. Eight of the 27 players that have been kept are from outside of India, and four are uncapped Indians.
Before the big auction of IPL 2022, each team will have a maximum purse of ₹90 cr.
The cost of keeping players will be taken from the ₹90 crore budget. A team will pay ₹ 4 crores for an uncapped talent.
The following players represent eight different teams:
